Resistance 40% OFF SALE

4GG - I posted that last one after drew, and before I read yours but again you turn it around.

"...the comps and clinics are done as a tax write off to help yourself..." - NO, the comps and clinics are done to HELP other people. Councils want to run ACTIVE and HEALTHY activities, so that has been very good for running low cost skateboard events for them in the last few years. For community groups or special needs, I usually do them for free.

The product bought is the balancing this income to zero, with product being for comp prizes, to pass on to skaters I know and want to help and to use myself, in that order.

My personal income is completely separate from the business I run, so all the tax I pay from that does not come back to me at all. See an accountant and they will tell you all about it.

Even Adli from Resistance, who is a certified accountant, understood and thought it a good idea, but many others just didn't understand the concept and thought I was deranged for buying product and then giving it away,
like an Antihero board I bought and gave to Sonny when he was in Resistance on his birthday and didn't even have enough cash to get a blank deck.

Anyway, off to work for now so talk to some more later.

I got to go and get ready to "look cool for the kids"...

4GG - I still didn't hear where you got your boards from and what they were?

You got me all curious and I want to know.

OR

Even just answer this: which shop is your local or which shop do you support the most?

Maybe for your info, someone else said I should add this:

Most skaters I help will go into the shop, look around, buy sometimes or not, then let me know what they want.

I NEVER just go out to a skatepark and try to get people to buy things.

People call, text, email or whatever asking me for something, so I go get it and meet them to give it to them.

The forums on here are different.

Anyone can sell anything here, which happens on the regular from a lot of different people.

Sometimes I have seen things that people are super stoked on, eg all suede eras and then ask if anyone wants any - if I get responses to buy, then I do and pass them on.

I don't push anything on anyone - they ask and I do what I can to find it for them.

How is this wrong?

Marty - I do apologise for said comment. It really was uncalled for. That is how it is seen though by some, but I didn't need to put it like that.

As you said in another conversation, if you want to have a purely retail presence for skateboard product, best to have a fixed location / registered place of business to sell product, not out of a van.

Read the post I put up in the thread - they are for beginners / art boards or the thin ones globe brought out for signatures only.

So the answer is "no" if you are going to try to use them for normal skating - they would be broken in minutes.

Thanks Mark. I do agree and know this is wrong as i myself am not happy about the situation i am in. Also i would like to clear up that my intesntion is not to "sell" things from the van, and yes i do own a site which i had intended to use the van for delivery of these purchases. I would like to have a legit shop but also u should know that my intestions from the van is to travel and meet skaters. i dont do what this person says either "set up shop". Another thing i am not a "Purly for profit" person/business and if this is the way it came out im sorry but my company was meant to be part of the community and promote skateboarding. untill a set shop is made then i will think about the profit site.

Thank you!

Hiya peeps. Long time reader, first time poster. I feel as if I need to give my two cents worth. I am not a skater, but I do use a skateboard every now and then. I am giving a third person’s view as I am someone from the outside. I apologize now for my essay length reply. Flame me as much as you like. I have made my point be known. :)

I have to stick up for Mark as I have a son who wanted to learn to skate and I cannot bloody teach any more than an ollie. So I found this guys(Marks) phone number on some BCC site and gave it a ring. Started going to the workshops Mark runs. This was two years ago. We have been attending nearly 95% of them from all over Brisbane and the Gold Coast. My son has come a long way in his skateboarding solely from Mark Brimson. Not only my son has Mark helped but a lot of young skaters who are genuinely showing an effort. He does not get paid a lot for his time he gives. He gives out so much stuff for free. I have never seen Mark be a salesman or hound anyone for sales. Where do you think he gets most of his product from? Local skate shops is where. I have run into Mark at a lot of local shops. He isn’t standing around talking bullshit, he is buying stuff. He even sends us to what store to buy stuff from when he sees stuff we are after. Gee, I guess this is someone who is stealing business away from local skate shops. If he buys stuff from a local skate shop, at full price then sells it for a cheaper price than what he paid for it – I don’t know, but isn’t that a bad thing for him? He is only hurting himself. Does not seem like the actions of money hungry businessman. He is only doing it for helping kids.

I don’t know, but the worlds best/successful trainers and coaches are people of age. You don’t become knowledgeable in something over 1 year, it takes years and years. He is not too bloody old. This is just simply laughable and a pitiful attempt at putting Mark down. I don’t see anyone else doing what he is doing……

He runs a lot of comps for young skaters. Last year, out of the skate comps that under 14’s could go in their own age division 80% of them were run by Mark. I rarely see any age divisions in shop run comps. I even see prizes such as alcohol given from skate shops. Thumbs up, on promoting to young skaters with alcohol. Mark gives out prizes or he will ask what people need or want. From what I have seen at shop run comps I don’t think it is any place for any person under the age of 16 should be present at. People openly smoking bongs at the park and comp organizers walking around with beers in their hands. Is this really helping skating or their skate shop?

Local skate shops are not the best to deal with. Myself and my son have been treated like shit most of the time we go. As he is only a little fella, he instantly gets a reply of, “We don’t have anything in your size!!!!”. They only stock items that they want to or are getting a better deal on. Then you will get ridiculed if you want a product that they don’t stock. WOAH!! I did not realise you guys were too cool to sell that item. You are treated like a second class citizen unless you are a friend of theirs or you are younger. As me and my cash walk out I think, “ I am not cool enough to be in there.” Spend my money else where.

Mark cannot be held solely responsible for a skate shop closing. It is skating in general that is dying. We can all see it. We don’t want it. But it is reality. I don’t know how or claim to know how to fix it. But I know Mark Brimson is NOT bad for skating. He does a freaking awesome job for very little material reward. I know why he does it. If people would just stop for five minutes and not be so cynical and see he is only trying to help young skaters keep skating. Keep up the good work Brimson. ;)

Mark is cool. He helps me and all my mates learn new tricks and has the best prizes at comps.
