I'm looking to start my own board company/production company towards the end of the year, I need to know what is good for the following
camera - digital or film
Video - DVD cam or Mini DV
computers - laptops? whats the best to use???
editing programms - whats the best???
any info is good info in this case
please help
My advice is not to bother. There is no room in the market for another player. This is especially the case if it is done in a half arsed manner. Most people attempting this fail miserably. Please let us know what you intend to do differently that sets you apart from the miriad of failed ventures. Please don't think I am being a just negative hater, I am just warning you that many people have lost thousands trying to do what you are doing.
dude if you don't know the answers to those questions seriously dont bother...
oh and just for the record...putting a question mark at the end of "i need help?" is like asking us wether u need help or not....good luck to you though
go for it mate - if thats your goal/dream.
but looking at your knowledge in the areas mentioned above.
good luck to you.
maybe start with a copy of "evrrything for dummies"
camera - canon 20d
Video - vx2100 with mk2
computers - mac g5
editing programms - final cut pro
ok ok when i wrote this i kinda miss wrote it guys, and yeah i'm really serious about the whole company, I asked for that info i meant as in brands, I'm more a sony guy, but my uncle owns a advertising filming/agency and he told me to ask, but yeah I'm glad i actually got some decent answers for once
ok the Questions i really need is if it is worth getting a dvd video camera or sticking to my Mini DV one
ok, whats your mini DV one first
if you wanna play with the big boys its seriously got to be three chip
DONT GET A DVD CAMERA
those fucking DVD's are way to expensive
Mini Dv all the way
If youre just filming skate then I dare say you'll want a VX1000 and Mk1 death lens
If you want to film anythign else then its the vx2000 or vx2100 with the Mk2
Gee.. I hope it's not long before someone releases a 3 chip Hard Drive cam.
JVCs new one has a 20 or 30 Gig HD built in (that's 4.5 to 37 hours of footage depending on the shooting mode). Hmm.. If only they could make an SD memory stick with a terabyte of storage. Then I would be truly happy.
ur company is gonna crash and burn if u dont evan no the basics... CRASHHHH and BUURRRNNNNNN
If i was you i would get:
Mac G5
Final Cut Pro
Motion and Soundtrack
A new 3chip Sony Hi-Def Camera aswell as some sort of shoulder mounted DVCAM.
Some sort of external mic and mabey a boom poll
You will also need a Betacam Recorder because if you are serious about production most places only accept content on BetacamSP tape.
You will only need that stuff if you are going to start a propper production company. If you are just running around filming skating grab a VX and premiere.
If you buy one of the HD cams though youre not going to need one of those DVCAM badboys
besides Dvcam doesnt record better quality picture then miniDV
they both use the same codec(DV)
its just that DVCAM records onto a longer track
very basically meaning less dropouts and glitches
With the production company side of things, what kind of productions are you looking at doing?
Ive never edited on a PC, just a mac
but i have to say Ill never go back to PC
my mac is great
Final Cut PRo is also a great program and theres a whole bunch of compositing programs out there
Shake gets released soon too from what i read on the apple site
which i will be very keen to get my chubby fingers on
