> NIKON F4/F5
in the futrure am looking to buy an f4 or an f5, i was wondering if anyone here has used one, prices? im talking second hand.
im not sure but an f4 body from england including VAT is about $1500 second hand.... but im not sure
ye i just bought an f4, its rad, 1/250s flash sync, has everything u need man and is considberable cheaper than the f5.
the auto focus on the F4 is slower than that of the f5, but not once have i encountered a problem when shooting. Although for skating i primarily use manual focus, because i don't trust any AF system, because they are easily tricked.
You have nothing to worry about with lenses, because Nikon have never changed their mount, so any nikon camera can use the newest and greatest glass.
the motor drive on the f5 is more superior than that of the f4 tho, the f5 shoots 8 fps, and the f4 has a maximum of 6 fps with motor drive. Transworld say that in order to get a sequence published it must be 6fps or higher, so your still sweet the f4.
i know i have seen f4's on e-bay for around $500, and they come with the battery pack that gives u 6 fps and also with a lense.
meanwhile just for the body of an F5, they are closer to a thousand on e-bay.
Just searach e-bay and you'll find prices, these are alls econd hand by the way.
def go a F5 if money is not a problem.
I use a F100 which is the baby brother of the F5.
Does the job.
of course go for the f5 if moneys not a problem, but can you tell me what huge advatnages the f5 ahs over the f4 othe than what i have already said?
If your looking to get serious i'd say go with the F5 but if you just like to shoot skate photos and some other things i'd say go with the F4 and you could invest the money you saved by buying the F4 in a good lens.
well isnt a lens the most important part of photography anyway, F4 seems the smarter option!!
Go dig for seq. anyway!
Hartley, You have a far larger knowledge than me when it comes to lenses, I'm just trying to make a choice when it comes to lens vs. flash setup, can you go in chat if it's not too much trouble?
i got an old F4 I use as a paper weight, everthing on it works fine, except part of the viewfinder is smashed. You can still see through it but you can't read the little exposure details at the bottom. Which makes it pretty much useless. Second hand value of a working f4 is between $500 and $1000.
The cost to replace the viewfinder over a grand.
Fancy looking paperweight = priceless
why not just use a hand held light meter. or you could meter with your d2x, a bit overkill but.
don't get the f5 dude, save the money u will save from getting the f5 and buy some good nikon glass. i got a 28-105mm zoom/marco lense and its a sick first lense.... if ur not into zoom get a 50mm f/1.4 or 1.8 choice lense.
money is a very big problem for me, and it seems i didnt do enough research, much more expensive than i first though, it wont be for a quite awhile until i get into that price range, ill keep shooting with my om-10, and if i do upgrade it will most likely be to fm2,
thanks for the help and advice
