> SONY HD CAMS IN SKATING?
I went to a film workshop on tuesday and got the lowdown on the sony HD cam that was rumoured to be the next vx1000.
I had visions of Ty Evas etc using this cam and changing the industry for good but I was shocked to learn how bad they are in low light and the bluey green colours of it. I also got to see the mk2 that has been made for it and the distortion was pretty chat....yeah they will probably find ways to adapt an mk1 onto it or whateva.....but i wont be surprised if the HD cam doesnt take off in the near future...
I'm keen to hear other peoples opinions though.
the NTSC lovers would hate that cam wuoldnt they?
I mean, youd be able to see the tricks perfectly clearly.

pal isn't "clearer" than ntsc....its just more real life...aka chat hehehe

yeah it looks like a news reporter cam....im sure ntsc would make it look good though...
but wateva the case is....during the day it looks very detailed
im so over this ntasc thing shut the fuck up
but anyway yer i do a of work atm at channel 7 brisbane and they have a hd they sometimes use
its way to big and heavy for skating i reckon and takes a lot of hard work to get a nice picture

isnt the HD cam capable of switching between PAL and NTSC? .... thats what I heard.
only the pro one is the HVR-Z1
the prosumer model (FX1?) only shoots in PAL or NTSC - whichever you own.
By pro and prosumer i mean like the VX2100 and PD170
i think you can turn off the hd function on the cam and it records at normal 3ccds
yeah you can film in normal format.
If i was going to get a new camera - fuck VX... i'd get the pro HD camera (except i hate the flipout LCD contraption)

the HD cam doesnt only come as a massive camera...we have a sony HD cam here at uni and it looks much like a vx....but lighter
it isnt lighter than the vx, but it is quite close in size.
but yeah nothing too big people.
In a new 4star ad, there's a pic of Howard, Carrol etc looking at footy on a Sony HD cam at some spot. They could be using it in the new Lakai or 4star vid?
