plus you have to think about your framing more before you take the pic to make sure you don't cut any arms and shit out when you crop

yer definately drew and jerry!!
Like the distortion looks really blurred like cameras been rotated whilst shot!
Has anyone heard news of if canon will come out with a fish eye to compete with the nikkor 10.5??
hope so!

No, I have heard no news. They would have to make one specifically for the 1.6 cropped ones. I do not think they will bother making one for just 2 cameras, espceially with full framed dslrs becoming the norm in future.

yeah true drew!
i'll sit it out with the fisheye thing and stick with canon!
Wait til i can afford a full framed DSLR!

i guess we'll have to wait till the 1D Mk II replacement to find out whether they'll be bringing out a full frame fisheye for 1.6 ? ... whether the mk II goes to 1.6 or full frame... i cannot see it staying in 1.3 :S ... if it does, thats fairly stupid.

but yeah... its stupid like... they say "can use any ef lens" but fisheye is basically fucking pointless on the 1.6 crop. MAKE A FISHEYE CANON YA ****S...

elder 00:58 23/Jun/05

either way... im probably hanging out for the 1D Mk2 replacement... that ... or maybe D2x? ahah
.. wont be for a while though :| .... $$$$$

1Ds Mk II is full frame!!

elder 11:22 23/Jun/05

nah im talking about the 1D Mk II ... i know the IDs MK II is full frame

hartley
hartley 03:29 24/Jun/05

why are u waiting for a 1d mk 11 replacement???
Isnt that the 1Ds mk 11???
I'm pretty sure most slr's they bring out from now on will be full frame!

ben k 03:55 24/Jun/05

ifm you're cropping out arms and legs with an 8mm you're getting TOO close.....i don't think ppl understand how close you have to get to s skater with an 8mm and still have them a mile away.

canon didn't just start making ef-s lenses only to phase it out within a couple of years (same goes with every other dslr manufacturer). until the price of full frame sensors come down heaps then i'm pretty sure the aps-c sized sensors are gonna be around for a while. and why haven't canon made a digi fish yet? probably coz there's not enough demand for it.

elder 05:46 24/Jun/05

yeah dude.... i reckon they'll phase out the 1.3 sensor ....

no... the 1D Mk II replacement ISNT the 1Ds Mk II.
it started out with the 1Ds and the 1D... 11megapixel and the 4 megapixel... 1Ds was replaced with 17 megapixel, 1D with an 8.3 megapixel.

the 1D Mk II has a 1.3x crop... which i think is pointless... it should be either full frame or 1.6x.
I'm thinking it might swing to full frame though because 1D's ARE top of the line. .... it COULD stay with 1.3x but that'd be pretty pointless.

not enough demand? .... half the skateboarding photography population would grab a 1.6x fisheye.... + every other jock out there with a 20d / 350 / 300d.... just look how many people are after them in photography forums. Also - do remember that not everyone that wants one talks about it... so there's HEAPS of other people out there that would buy one if one was available.

HAHA... im pretty much thinking nobody should make predictions and other shit to soon.... which is why i said im waiting for the 1D Mk III / mk2 replacement - it might reveal Canon's future in digital fisheye possiblities

think about the size of skateboarding photography population. its not that big a population compared to the rest of the photography groups. especially on the professional side of things. then think about how many are using canon 10d/20d/300d/etc. and you end up with a small minority. most of the skate photographers are using mf setups or are still using 35mm film anyway. if there were enough professional photographers demanding a digi fish from CPS then maybe they might think about making one. who knows.

for anything other than skateboarding the fisheye lens is such a selective type of lens with only limited uses.

so true jerysk8!
U rock a 1D dont u, 1/500th sync speed!

I can understand it might cost more for full frame sensor, but it seems so much more practical, rather than having to make a new line of lenses, that being digital lenses!!
