> VX1000 REPAIR COSTS
hey penguin, I finally realised where I seen that glitching problem before. Your right about the dirty heads usually giving those horizontal line artifacts which isnt really the digi glitches you were suffering.
those glitches were happening with my camera at the start and took me a while to work it out but it was because I was filming over pre-existing footage. I pretty much never record over other footage any more for this reason. And I think I remember you saying that you had to rewind the tape because it was running out of space. This is a major NO-NO with vx1's as they are not very friendly with tape memory etc. Also, always use the cheaper sony tapes (the newer more expensive ones have extra shit on the tape that causes those glitches)
I also rememberd while watching back the footage on my cam, it was clean up until a certain point and then it started glitching, was this about the same point where you re-wound the tape and started to re-record over the same part?
just a thought.
and, there is a place in sydney that does all vx1 repairs, the NTSC side of things is not worth worrying about as they import all the parts from overseas anyhow.
I dont know about your problem for costs but I was quoted $250 to replace the entire tape mechanism after a tape got jammed and I snapped some metal pin off inside it trying to get it out. It started magically working again so I didnt worry about getting it fixed. I would say the mic would be cheapish to replace, there wil be nothing wrong with your heads, playback button might end up costing a bit since they typically just replace entire chunks of the unit when fixing it and the button mechanisms might be in one of these 'chunks'
bryces camera is riddled with camera cancer
u might need to start putting in extra hours at newi skate
haha na it should be fine...just dont cut corners and i will also go halves with u in a one chip for me and you to capture on
you wont be capturing pal and ntsc on the same 1 chip camera chippy, or are you turning to the darkside after all the pal loving?
yeh about the gliched footage after a few head cleans it came out clear as day no problems :S
so i guess thats a good thing
Maybe it seen a vx2k and realised it could never match up
'like a fat chick at a beauty pagent
it took its own life and has gone to VX heaven
thats pretty crazy penguin. Are you saying that the section of tape that was glitching is now ok?
considering it glitched in the exact same position on my camera also it would be fair to say it had nothing to do with the heads, but more likely it was crap on the tape???
i dunno. I would have bet my left testical you werent going to save that footage after the two camera test. I guess miracles happen eh.
Thanks for that!
I just read back thorugh this thread and couldnt work out hat it meant
that puts me at ease
good to see a newi head rocking a 2100!
yeh it came out cool.
if in doubt beat ur equipment and im sure itll end up all right
I've been beating Tank Dog for years now - works wonders...
when she doesnt show up footage on lcd... a few large hits fix her up.... when she shows grey bands across the lcd and glitching... bash her a few times and she's sweet - if bashing causes footage to stop being showed... apply option 1. again and she'll be right.
bashing works wonders.
