> FEBRUARY PHOTO COMP
The filmers camera went flat just before he landed this but he went and did it anyway. He didn't even care there wasn't any footage.
Matthew Brassington - BS Heelflip
Can personally vouch for Matthew Brassington's legitness, kid is not one to pose.
Nice shot sketty
Sketty's flick would be my pic so far, with GavPro's getting a mention even though it's sideways!
I think the pic that takes this one out will have to be more than 'skater one third into the frame' and make more use of the points that define the rule of thirds - i.e. Sketty's also has a pretty stark line at the edge of the sandstone doorway that is about a third in, plus one of the stairs could almost be considered to define the lower third (might've been even sicker if he'd pulled back to make the top stair run along the bottom third line...).
Who knows, I might even manage to enter this one...
Another thought I had about these comps is limiting the amount of entries per person. The arsehole in me wants to say that you should only be able to enter one picture, but maybe a max of 3 is fair? It will make people self-crit a little harder and also make it a bit easier on chip/the judge when it comes to sifting through the entries. Happy to be shot down on that one...
Thanks for the crit nate, I appreciate it. I didn't even think about having the top step running along the lower third. I'll definitely give it a go next time I'm there.
In regards to the limited amount of shots re-read chips original post in the thread he's made it 4 entries per person which I think is pretty fair.
Cheers flycat and imgne_ as well. Good to know you guys liked the pic.
Yeah quality work sketty, you go girl!
I'm also down for the 4 max, as all thought it stops people flooding the pages it keeps people posting, as they shoot.
A lot of people's favourite hippie Dylan Monk - FS Feeblor grind
halfway!
will be organising a judge in the next week or two!
lets see some good stuff
^sick shot i like it heaps, good to see bearefish killing it as well
Grant Taitem - FS Crook, this wasn't a land but figured it shouldn't matter for a photo comp
not my comp, up to chip but i will throw in my 2 cents anyway..
if i knew something was a no land I wouldn't allow it in a photo comp..
99% of the time whoever is judging can't ignore the trick..
where there are 2 equally good photos, the one with the better looking/gnarlier trick will win..
so to be fair all tricks had to be roll aways..
I'm sure plenty of bails probably won in the past though
