i know there are probably prisms and mirrors involved, but the lenses in that pic aren't in line with the camera lens...
Also, are they the dvx 100 or the hvx200?
I read somewhere it was a mini35mm system or something like that
and DVX100's
though it could be wrong

mini35 is the bomb. damn, dvx plus a mini adapter, why not just roll some film.
